Building a Stronger Union: Why Addressing Anti-Black Racism Matters

Addressing anti-Black racism in union spaces is essential to creating a truly inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for all members. Solidarity isn’t just a slogan, it’s a commitment to ensuring that every member, including Black colleagues, feel seen, heard, valued, and safe.

When we confront anti-Black racism head-on, we strengthen our union from within. We foster greater trust, uphold our shared values of fairness and justice, and create a workplace culture where dignity and respect are not only expected but guaranteed. This work benefits everyone, because an inclusive union is a stronger, more united union.

To help guide these efforts, we’re inviting members to complete a short survey developed by the Co-Chair of the UTE National Equal Opportunities Committee. The survey is open until April 18, 2025, and your input is vital. It will help us better understand the experiences of our members, highlight opportunities for growth, and shape the actions we take moving forward.

Your voice matters. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and help us build a union that works for all of us.
